Jewels of the Night - Gomm's Wood Local Nature Reserve
Come and join the WDC Woodland Rangers for a walk in the twilight listening on the detector for bats hunting their prey, looking for signs of our elusive nocturnal creatures, and examining the beautiful jewels of the night caught, but not harmed, in our moth trap. Bring a torch.

Butterfly Walk - Gomm's Wood Local Nature Reserve
As part of National Save Our Butterflies Week, join the WDC Woodland Rangers on the annual walk around this diverse Local Nature Reserve in search of Common Blues, Marbled Whites, Skippers and others. We will also be looking at the wildflowers that they feed on.

Woodland Exploration of Gomm's Wood Local Nature Reserve
Join a Woodland Ranger and learn about some of the many trees within the wood and discover some of the many creatures that live there. This event is designed for children aged from 4 to 10 years and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that this event is not suitable for buggies.

The monthly Have Your Say session with the neighbourhood police team is being held between 6pm and 8.30pm today.

Hartbeeps is beginning regular gatherings in the village hall next month and today invites babies and children from six months to five years (and a grown up!) to a free taster session.
The Teddy Bears Tea Party comprises a creative and multi-sensory music workshop. It's in the village hall from 2.15.

Help the WDC Woodland Rangers start this year's vital conservation task to create mixed aged woodland suitable for a wide variety of wildlife from Bullfinches to Violets and other wildflowers.

30 August 2010 - Hazlemere Fete's 150th anniversary
Sadly, there's no Penn and Tylers Green Country Fayre this year, but you are welcome to visit Hazlemere's fete on the sports ground which celebrates its 150th birthday this year.
30 August 2010 - Beaconsfield Country Fayre
Although there is no Penn and Tylers Green fayre this bank holiday, everyone is welcome to the Beaconsfield Country Fayre.
The main event is The Stretcher Race which comprises of teams of four who carry a fifth person on a stretcher, all dressed in fancy dress, around a course of 7 pubs, consuming a drink at each watering hole. The winner is person who does it in the faster time.
Other popular attractions are the Jazz Band, Oscar the children’s entertainer, Church Tower, Animal Magic, Climbing wall, Giant inflatable slide and the Great Balloon race. One feature of the Country Faye is the Horticultural Competition which is growing in popularity. The garden on a plate is proving a great hit with the children!
This year we are to launch a new stretcher race for children along a shorter circuit, the patient with be a teddy bear and naturally they will be required to drink an non-alcoholic beverage at each stop! We think the children will give the adults a run for their money and to spice up things, we will be running a tote on both races. For more information please see www.beaconsfieldstretcherrace.org.uk.
